When Pat Wheeler talks about giving, she means it from the heart — and quite literally.
After surviving a life-altering heart attack and witnessing the compassionate end-of-life care her aunt received at the Misericordia Community Hospital, Pat decided she could not keep that gratitude to herself. She wanted to give others the same comfort, dignity and care her family experienced during one of their hardest seasons.
“The care my aunt received at the Misericordia inspired me to start giving to Covenant Foundation,” Pat shares. “Experiencing that same level of care myself after a heart attack only deepened my commitment. I continue to give because I want others and their families to feel the same comfort, respect and support that meant so much to mine.”
Eight years after her own heart attack, Pat still remembers how the doctors and staff treated everyone on her ward with kindness and attention. That experience became the heartbeat of her giving.
“I may not be able to do a lot,” she says, “but knowing that my small, regular donation can help someone else receive the care they need means the world to me. I’m thankful I have the ability to give, and I pray I’ll always have that ability.
