enhancing care for seniors across alberta

More than 707,000 seniors call Alberta home, and the need for compassionate, specialized care continues to grow. Today, 21% of Alberta seniors are living with three or more chronic conditions, while approximately 62,000 are living with dementia, a number expected to increase significantly in the decades ahead.

With the support of generous donors, Covenant Foundation helps enhance care for seniors across both acute and continuing care settings in Alberta. Donor support equips hospital teams with leading-edge technology, research and training that improve outcomes and save lives, while also funding specialized equipment, innovative programs and enhanced care spaces in continuing care. Together, these investments help seniors maintain their independence, stay connected and experience greater comfort, dignity and quality of life throughout their care journey.

Making everyday moments more accessible

Donor support funded a new wheelchair lift at St. Joseph’s Home, removing barriers for residents who use wheelchairs and walkers. The lift gives residents greater independence and easier access to outdoor spaces, neighbours and the everyday moments that bring connection and joy.

Helping seniors stay safe and independent

Donor support helps fund programs like SAIL, equipping care teams to prevent falls, support recovery and promote safe living. By helping seniors maintain mobility and confidence, SAIL enhances quality of life and independence.

Enhancing quality of life through connection

Donor support brings the ABBY activation platform to Covenant sites, offering interactive, dementia-friendly activities that stimulate memory and engagement. ABBY helps seniors living with dementia stay connected, engaged and experience a better quality of life.
