Creating a Best-in-Class Training Centre for Healthcare Workers
It was the combination of education and health care that resonated with the board of trustees at the Edmonton Civic Employees Charitable Assistance Fund (ECECAF) and why they chose to donate $500,000 to Covenant Foundation for a state-of-the-art staff training space at the new Misericordia Emergency Department. This transformational gift from ECECAF is helping ensure frontline staff receive on-site training in the latest advances that will help save lives in our community.

Donor-funded, Leading-edge Equipment Improves Breast Cancer Surgery
Thanks to a generous $150,000 gift from the Dianne and Irving Kipnes Foundation, breast cancer patients at the Misericordia are receiving faster, safer and more precise surgeries with the help of a Faxitron® Trident® high-definition specimen radiography system. With more breast cancer surgeries performed at the Misericordia — about 1,500 every year — than at any other hospital in northern Alberta, the Faxitron machine helps patients have better outcomes by enabling surgeons in the operating room to quickly assess whether they’ve removed all the cancerous cells or pinpoint the location of tumours that have shrunk.
